Start With Fruit

Fruit is wonderful. So sweet, succulent, a gift that nature abundantly provides. Now, I personally have a penchant for fruit, and my life wouldn't be complete without it. How about you?

Okay, maybe I'm being a little too enthusiastic about fruit, but the fact that it is necessary is unavoidable. If you already enjoy REAL fruit (no fruit-snacks, fruit-flavored candy, etc...), then great! Keep it up! Not a fruit lover? I would recommend to start getting your taste buds craving for it. As you get used to the taste of mother nature's sweets and begin to enjoy them, there is no doubt that you will stick with real fruit.

It will also be easier to skip those faulty "made-with-real-fruit" concoctions that are predominantly made up of corn syrup and other sugary additives.

Here's a way that I personally like to eat my apples:

Sliced apples with a big dollop of Fage 0% Greek Yogurt

Also, try pure fruit for dessert! It's a great way to save your belly from extra fat, and a simple way to provide your body with a myriad of vitamins.

Taste the Rainbow

Sometimes, we just don't have time in our busy lives to "eat right".  But food itself is so important to our health. Imagine the processed junk that you might have eaten in the past (yesterday counts). Now imagine opening your stomach and literally placing that food inside. That is what you digest. That is what your body takes energy from. Hmmmm....

"You are what you eat" may sound cliche, but it is true. The fact that what we eat literally travels through our bodies and effects our bodily functions convinces me to eat healthier.

Colors! Always strive to eat colorfully, for that guarantees higher nutrient intake. No, don't make excuses with multi-colored chips or candies. Enjoy the colors that food naturally blesses us with. Each color represents different types of vitamins and minerals, so altogether, we can achieve ultimate health!

Just a few benefits of different (natural!!) colors:

RED... Protects the skin from sun damage; Decreases risk of heart disease and symptoms
of asthma, wheezing, and shortness of breath during exercise.

ORANGE... The vitamin A strengthens the immune system and helps one see better in low-
                       light conditions.

YELLOW... Helps decrease joint inflammation, and improves the respiratory system.

GREEN... Promotes healthy vision; Speeds up healing rate; Strengthens bones, muscles,
                  and brain.

BLUE/ PURPLE... Makes brain cells more responsive; Promotes growth of new nerve cells
